GENERAL ASSEMBLY: THE RITE OF WELCOMING SCST STUDENTS
The
School of Computer Studies and Technology (SCST) had
its annual general assembly last July 11, 2012 (Wednesday)
at the Fra. Angelico Hall (Gymnasium). This was set to
formally welcome the new members of the family–the
freshmen and transferees, as well as the newly-hired
teachers.
The event started with the
registration of the attendees. The formal program was
opened by a heart-warming prayer led by Mr. Rey Edward
Gutierrez. The singing of the
national anthem, were led by the equally talented SCST
students, Geca Manalo and Gab Peralta. Ms. Mary Grace
Olivar and Mr. Edison Esberto, faculty members, hosted the
assembly.
Living up to its program’s
objectives, Ms. Loriemel Ferrera, the dean, elevated the
Arriba spirit of acceptance and unity among the members of
the school through her warm welcome speech. The faculty
members were then introduced to the students to acquaint
them of whom to approach regarding their academics, as
well as other concerns.
Policies and procedures of the
department were discussed by the assigned faculty members
to new and old students alike. Other student-related
concerns were also discussed by invited guests: Mr. Romeo
Banatlao of the Campus Ministry, Ms. Maresann Villorente
of the Student Development Services, Ms. Ann Bayugo of the
Guidance and Counseling Office, and Ms. Myra Ortega of the
Library Services Department.
To add spice to the program and to
showcase the true Letranite talent, selected students of
the Plus 10 Crew performed to the crowd’s delight.
Items and freebies were also given
to lucky students during the question and answer portion.
In the end, it was evident that the objectives of the
activity were realized, and the whole SCST community is
sure to go towards oneness and excellence.
