Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba marked another milestone in its internationalization efforts with the formal signing of the Supply of Services Agreement with The British Council for the administration of the British Council Aptis Test. The ceremony, held at Letran Calamba, symbolizes the institution’s strong commitment to raising the bar for language proficiency assessment and preparing students for opportunities beyond national borders.

The Aptis Test, a globally recognized English language proficiency examination, will now be made available to Letran Calamba students through this partnership. Designed to measure reading, writing, listening, and speaking abilities, the test provides a comprehensive evaluation of English skills aligned with international standards. This strengthens the Colegio’s efforts to equip its graduates with competencies that meet the demands of global education, work environments, and intercultural engagement.

During the meeting, both Letran Calamba and The British Council reiterated that the initiative extends far beyond testing. Rather, it reflects a shared vision of preparing students to navigate and excel in the international arena. The Aptis Test will serve not only as a measure of English proficiency but also as a strategic tool to enhance students’ readiness for international mobility programs, advanced studies, and professional pathways that require global communication skills.

The ceremonial signing was graced by key officials from both institutions. Representing Letran Calamba were Rev. Fr. Roman L. Santos, O.P., Rector and President; Dr. Floricon V. Encabo, Vice President for Academics; Dr. Richard John Brian D. Manzano, Dean of the School of Education, Arts and Sciences; and Ms. Janice A. Ilao, Assistant Director for Internationalization and Linkages. They were joined by Mr. Mike Cabigon, Business Development Manager for Exams of the British Council, who reaffirmed the organization’s support in advancing high-quality English assessment in the Philippines.

This collaboration marks a valuable addition to Letran Calamba’s growing portfolio of internationalization initiatives—further strengthening its academic programs, assessment practices, and student development efforts. By integrating a reputable and research-based assessment tool like Aptis, the Colegio continues its mission of nurturing learners who are confident, competent, and globally competitive.

As Letran Calamba moves forward with this initiative, the institution expresses optimism that the partnership will create new pathways for learning, global competence, and institutional growth. The Colegio remains steadfast in its commitment to provide students with opportunities that prepare them for a rapidly evolving global landscape.

Arriba, Letran!
