Letran Calamba School of Nursing Commemorates 40th Anniversary of EDSA People Power Revolution

Last February 24, 2026, the School of Nursing of Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Calamba gathered virtually in a meaningful Zoom event to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution.

The event served not only as a remembrance of a historic milestone, but also as an educational platform that deepened our understanding of the values that shaped our nation in 1986 through unity, courage, nonviolence, and collective responsibility. Through well-prepared and insightful video presentations, nursing students highlighted the historical context of the revolution, the role of ordinary Filipino citizens, and the significance of peaceful civilian action in restoring democracy.

As future healthcare professionals, we reflected on how the spirit of EDSA mirrors the essence of nursing service, compassion, advocacy, and standing firm in the face of adversity. The commemoration reminded us that just as people once gathered along EDSA to protect freedom and uphold truth, we too are called to serve with integrity, protect life, and promote justice in our communities.

Forty years later, the lessons of EDSA remain relevant. May we continue to remember, to educate, and to embody the spirit of People Power in our profession and in our everyday lives.
