Inaugural Speech
Inspired by its philosophy of Conscience, Discipline, and Excellence, the strategic direction of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba for the next four years under my leadership shall focus on three main objectives, namely: Strength, Stability, and Sustainability.
On Strength: Together with the Dominican friars of St. Albert the Great Convent, we shall nurture among our pupils, students, and personnel a more pastoral approach in witnessing our Catholic Dominican identity, charism, and mission. As an autonomous, deregulated Private Higher Education Institution (PHEI) recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), we commit ourselves in defining further our niche branding and culture differentiation specifically within this particular region of the country. Needless to say, quality academic performances on licensure examinations, research, and community extension programs, and the employability of our graduates shall always be at the top of our priority list.
On Stability: The lifeblood of every organization rests on the good attitude and respectable character of its human resources. Since, for the Colegio, we value so much our people and our commitment to excellent quality education, we shall ensure that our faculty and academic staff will have an equitable opportunity for career growth and professional development in line with the flagship courses of our institution. To continuously improve our operational standards, processes, and procedures, we shall implement a simplification of our operating system without compromising accuracy and accountability. Time-and-motion approach with corresponding counter-checking measures shall be our guiding principle in realizing goals and deliverables on time. Further, to keep pace with the rapid pace of change in the education trends, improvement and upgrade of our technological equipment and facilities shall be given full attention and utmost importance.
On Sustainability: Since our collaboration with the Dominican schools, especially with the University of Santo Tomas – Manila, Sta. Rosa and General Santos, UST Angelicum College, Angelicum School of Iloilo, and Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Manila, Bataan, and Manaoag, are strong and sturdy at this juncture, we commit to intensifying our partnership with them in the most intimate and mutually engaging manner. Moreover, throughout the years, the steadfast efforts of our forebears have established the Colegio’s good and unsullied reputation both in the local and international corporate landscape. We shall pursue the same eager aspiration in our linkages and networking system. Lastly, befriending social media remains a key access to virtual community platforms. It is about time that Letran Calamba takes center stage in aggressively promoting itself and its roster of highly acclaimed and renowned alumni. We shall do so extensively.
To the Dominican Province of the Philippines and the Board of Trustees of the Colegio de San Juan de Letran – Calamba, it is my great honor and privilege to serve the brethren and the academic community of this prestigious institution, respectively. Through God’s unfailing mercy and grace, by the powerful intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag and with all your prayers, help, and support, we shall triumph in these crucial and essential points together. Maraming Salamat po.
Deus, Patria, Arriba Letran! Arriba!
